Suzuki Motor Corp. (7269) will take part in the FIM Road Racing Grand Prix MotoGP in 2015, returning to the motorcycle championship to gain knowledge of new technology for future models.
The company will take part in testing at the Catalunya circuit in Spain today, according to the Hamamatsu City, Japan-based motorcycle maker. The testing team will be led by Davide Brivio, who previously managed the Fiat-Yamaha MotoGP team, Suzuki said in a statement on its website.
Suzuki’s return to racing after its exit in 2012 follows Honda Motor Co. (7267)’s announcement last month that it will rejoin the Formula One series by supplying engines to its partner McLaren Automotive Ltd. Suzuki will develop a 1000-cc in-line four GP racer for MotoGP, it said in the statement.
