Raymond James Hires Barclays’ McOuat for Mining Investment Group

Raymond James Ltd., the Canadian subsidiary of Raymond James Financial Inc., hired Gavin McOuat from Barclays Plc (BARC) to expand its mining investment banking group.

McOuat will be based in Toronto as managing director and co-head of investment banking mining and metals starting June 10, the firm said today in a statement. He’ll work with John Murphy, co-head of mining in Vancouver. McOuat was previously global co-head of metals and mining for Barclays.

“He has a strong reputation for his ability to identify and build deep relationships with clients, and is widely respected throughout the mining industry in North America and internationally,” Jason Holtby, head of investment banking for Raymond James, said in the statement.
