BMO Promotes Begy, Front Street Hires Brown: Vlaad

Bank of Nova Scotia promoted Brian Porter to chief executive officer from president as current CEO Richard Waugh retires, according to Vlaad and Co., a Toronto-based financial services recruiting firm.

Other moves noted in the “Bill’s Buzz” weekly newsletter include: * Ellen Costello, BMO Capital Markets U.S. country head is retiring. Chief auditor Chris Begy will replace her. * Front Street Capital Inc. hired Rick Brown as senior portfolio manager of fixed income from Stanton Asset Management. * Uranium One Inc. (UUU) hired Adam Schatzker as executive vice president, strategy and business development. Adam was at RBC Capital Markets as a director and research analyst. * Shaez Allidina joined Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance Canada as a corporate finance analyst. * PI Financial Corp. hired Amain Jain to its sales desk from Raymond James Financial Inc. and Jose Estevez to the institutional trading group from Desjardins Securities Inc. * Mackie Research Capital added Adam Seanor as financial services research analyst from M Partners. * Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS)’s The WaterStreet Group Inc. hired Edwin Wong as an investment counsellor from Mercer Investments.
