Number of the Day: 40,000

May 23 (Bloomberg) -- Technology has been exploding outside Silicon Valley in places like London, New York and Tel-Aviv and you can now add Berlin to that list. Bloomberg TV's Cristina Alesci takes you inside Berlin's start-up poster child, SoundCloud and explains why young engineering talent is flocking in drones to the hip, underground Capital of Germany.

That's the number of companies setting up shop in Berlin each year. Many are tech entrepreneurs, attracted to the city's relatively low cost of living and young demographic.

As Bloomberg TV's Cristina Alesci reports, the poster child for Berlin's burgeoning tech hub is SoundCloud, which grew by about a hundred employees last year. But as the segment points out, the capital of Germany will still need to prove that its startup scene can "turn into something serious and big."
