Century to Acquire Kentucky Aluminum Smelter From Rio Tinto

Century Aluminum Co. (CENX), the third- largest U.S. producer of the metal by market value, said it agreed to buy the Sebree smelter in Kentucky from Rio Tinto Group for $61 million.

Rio will retain all historical environmental liabilities and will fully fund the pension plan being assumed by the buyer, Monterey, California-based Century said today in a statement.
