Russia Recovers to Defeat Slovakia 3-2, Reach Final of Fed Cup

Russia came back from 2-0 down to beat Slovakia 3-2 and reach the final of tennis’s Fed Cup.

Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina clinched the win with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 doubles victory over Dominika Cibulkova and Daniela Hantuchova in Moscow.

Earlier, Maria Kirilenko beat Cibulkova 7-5, 6-1 and Makarova defeated Hantuchova 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to level the match at 2-2.

The other semifinal, in Palermo, was delayed until tomorrow, because of rain, with Italy leading the Czech Republic 2-1. The Fed Cup is the top team competition in women’s tennis.
