Notre Dame, Louisville Reach NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four

Notre Dame University and the University of Louisville won to complete the Final Four lineup at the national women’s college basketball tournament.

Notre Dame defeated second-seeded Duke 87-76 last night in the Norfolk region and fifth-seeded Louisville defeated No. 2 Tennessee 86-78 in the Oklahoma City region.

Notre Dame will face Connecticut in a meeting of top regional seeds on April 7 at New Orleans Arena. Louisville will play second-seeded California for a place in the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship game.

Skylar Diggins scored 24 points for the Fighting Irish (35-1), who are going to their third consecutive Final Four. Kayla McBride added 18 points.

Shoni Schimmel scored 24 points for the Cardinals (28-8), who defeated the Vols two nights after beating defending champion Baylor.

The championship game is scheduled for April 9 in New Orleans.
