Russian Billionaires Potanin, Mamut Merge Internet Assets

Russian billionaires Vladimir Potanin and Alexander Mamut merged their online-media assets to create Russia’s third-largest Internet group by audience.

Potanin’s Rambler-Afisha and Mamut’s SUP Media are combining in a merger of equals and will have a total audience of 35 million unique monthly visitors, the companies said in a statement on the SUP Media website.

SUP Media owns LiveJournal.com, a social media platform with user-generated content, and online newspaper Gazeta.ru, according to the website. Potanin’s Internet assets include search engine Rambler.ru, news website Lenta.ru and Afisha entertainment and leisure media.
