Notre Dame, Stanford, Baylor Advance in Women’s NCAA Tournament

Regional top seeds Notre Dame University, Stanford University and Baylor University advanced to the round of 16 in the women’s national college basketball tournament.

Brittney Griner had three dunks among her 33 points and also had four blocks and a career-high 22 rebounds as Baylor defeated No. 8 Florida State 85-47 last night and advanced to face fifth-seeded Louisville on March 31 in the Oklahoma City region of the women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. Louisville beat Purdue 76-63.

Notre Dame topped ninth-seeded Iowa 74-57 to reach the next round against 12th-seeded Kansas in the Norfolk region on March 31. Stanford defeated eighth-seeded Michigan 73-40 in the Spokane region and will play Georgia on March 30.

Duke, the Norfolk region’s second seed, beat No. 7 Oklahoma State 68-59 last night and moved on to the round of 16 to face sixth-seeded Nebraska on March 31, while No. 2 Kentucky topped seventh-seeded Dayton 84-70 to face sixth-seeded Delaware in the Bridgeport region on March 30. Delaware scored a 78-69 victory against third-seeded North Carolina last night.

No. 6 Louisiana State won 71-66 against No. 3 Penn State in the Spokane region and next will face California.
