The University of Louisville, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest region, defeated Colorado State University 82-56 to reach the regional semifinals of the national men’s college basketball tournament.
Russ Smith scored 27 points for the Cardinals (31-5) and Gorqui Dieng added 12 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Greg Smith scored 14 and Daniel Bejarano had 10 for the eighth-seeded Rams (26-9), who trailed 45-31 at the half.
Louisville will play the winner of the game between Oregon and Saint Louis in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament’s regional semifinal.
