Nigerian Agency Says 29 Survivors Found After Boat Sinking

At least 29 people have been rescued after a boat capsized about 40 nautical miles off the coast of southeastern Nigeria on March 15, the National Emergency Management Agency said.

Nine bodies were recovered after the wooden boat carrying about 128 people to Gabon capsized, Yushau Shuaib, a spokesman for the emergency agency, also known as Nema, said by phone today from Abuja, the capital.

The emergency agency is continuing with rescue efforts, he said.
