Klaus Wiedner became chief of a unit overseeing insurance and pensions at the European Commission’s Internal Market and Services division.
Wiedner, from Austria, took up the post two days ago and replaces Karel van Hulle, who retired at the end of January, according to his office at the Brussels-based commission, the European Union’s executive arm.
He previously worked as head of a unit responsible for enforcing public procurement law in the same division.
