RBC Hires Standard Bank’s Garner as Head of Metals in New York

RBC Capital Markets said it hired Bruce Garner as managing director and head of metals from Standard Bank Plc where he led the bank’s commodities team.

Garner will be based in New York, where he’ll oversee the firm’s global base and precious metals business, RBC said in an e-mailed statement. He’ll report to Bruce Macdonald, head of commodities and electronic trading.

Garner left Standard Bank in November, where he was head of commodities based in Singapore. Before that, he was head of commodities sales in Europe and the Americas for Deutsche Bank AG, RBC said. RBC Capital is a unit of Royal Bank of Canada, the country’s largest lender by assets.
