GE’s Begley Exits Executive Positions to Take Medical Leave

General Electric Co. (GE) Chief Information Officer Charlene Begley, who’s also head of the home and business solutions unit, is taking a leave of absence for medical reasons.

Jamie Miller, Fairfield, Connecticut-based GE’s comptroller and chief accounting officer, will replace Begley as CIO, the company said today in a statement. Chip Blankenship, who leads the company’s appliances unit, will replace her as chief executive officer of the Home & Business Solutions division, Michelle May, a spokeswoman, said in a telephone interview.

Miller and Blankenship’s appointments are intended to be permanent, said May, who declined to comment on the nature of Begley’s health issue.

Home & Business Solutions had revenue of $7.9 billion last year.
