Winfrey to Give Harvard University Graduation Address

Oprah Winfrey, the talk show host and producer, will give the keynote address at Harvard University’s graduation ceremony.

Winfrey will speak the afternoon of May 30 during Harvard’s 362nd Commencement, the college, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, said in a statement on its website.

Winfrey’s “Oprah” show, which ran for more than 20 years, reached countries around the world and led to her producing, publishing and television network enterprises. She has also encouraged reading through a televised book club, and worked to support women’s shelters, youth centers, disaster relief, and victims of child abuse, Harvard said in the statement.

“Oprah’s journey from her grandmother’s Mississippi farm to becoming one of the world’s most admired women is one of the great American success stories,” Harvard President Drew Faust said in the statement.
