Svindal Wins World Cup Super-G Ski Title With Victory in Norway

Aksel Lund Svindal won the men’s World Cup super-G skiing title with his fifth victory of the season before a home crowd in Kvitfjell, Norway.

Austria’s Georg Streitberger was second and Werner Heel of Italy third today. Austria’s Marcel Hirscher still leads the overall World Cup standings, with Svindal 29 points behind.

Anna Fenninger of Austria won the women’s super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, today, ahead of Maria Hoefl- Riesch of Germany and Julia Mancuso of the U.S.

Super-G category leader Tina Maze of Slovenia, who’s already assured of the overall title, was fourth.

Yesterday Maze set a World Cup skiing record for points in a season by winning the downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She has 2,074 points, with Hoefl-Riesch second on 1,050.
