Knicks Beat Wizards for 3rd Straight Win, Nets Lose to Mavericks

Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 96-88 victory over the Washington Wizards and their third straight win in the National Basketball Association.

The Knicks (35-20) lead the Eastern Conference’s five-team Atlantic Division, three games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets (34-25), who lost 98-90 to the Dallas Mavericks.

Raymond Felton had 23 points and J.R. Smith came off the bench to tally 13 points and 12 rebounds last night at the Verizon Center in Washington.

Bradley Beal scored 29 points for the Wizards, while John Wall contributed 16 and reserve Trevor Ariza added 15.

The Wizards (18-39) are third in the conference’s five-team Southeast Division, 24 1/2 games behind the Miami Heat.
