Jennifer Lawrence Wins Best Actress Oscar for ‘Silver Linings’

Jennifer Lawrence won the Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal of a troubled young woman in Weinstein Co.’s “Silver Linings Playbook.”

The award was handed out today at the 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood. “Silver Linings Playbook,” directed by David O. Russell, looks at two misfits, played by Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, as they try to piece their lives back together.

The film was nominated for eight Oscars, including best actor for Cooper and best supporting actor for Robert De Niro. Jacki Weaver, the character’s mother, was nominated for best supporting actress.
