Del Potro Beats Benneteau in Rotterdam; Azarenka Downs Williams

Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina beat Julien Benneteau of France in straight sets to win the Rotterdam World Tennis title today.

World No. 7 Del Potro won 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, having lost in last year’s final to Roger Federer. Benneteau beat world No. 2 Federer in this year’s quarterfinals.

Victoria Azarenka of Belarus beat Serena Williams of the U.S. 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 6-3 to defend her Qatar Open title. Williams will replace Azarenka tomorrow at the top of the WTA rankings.
