GLC Hires Goldman Sachs’s Chetan Bhandari as Managing Director

GLC Advisors & Co., the advisory arm of Global Leveraged Capital, hired Chetan Bhandari as a managing director from Goldman Sachs Group Inc., expanding the firm’s restructuring advisory practice.

Bhandari was previously a managing director in the leveraged finance group at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong and New York, GLC said an e-mailed statement. At GLC he will focus on debt advisory, private placement and restructuring services, based in New York.

GLC Advisors is adding to a restructuring advisory team that has worked on more than 150 transactions involving $300 billion of securities, according to the firm’s website. Chairman Thomas Benninger founded GLC in 2005 after heading the restructuring group at UBS AG, and has recruited bankers from UBS’s restructuring team including Soren Reynertson.

Before Goldman Sachs, Bhandari was a managing director with UBS in the restructuring and leveraged finance groups where he worked with Benninger and Reynertson. Earlier he worked at DLJ in the restructuring and leveraged finance teams. Bhandari is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Business School.
