Alcatel-Lucent CEO Is Said to Step Down in May, Le Monde Says

Alcatel-Lucent SA Chief Executive Officer Ben Verwaayen, whose term ends this year, won’t have his mandate renewed and will step down May 7, Le Monde reported, without citing anyone.

The decision was made at a board meeting today, the newspaper said. Alcatel-Lucent is scheduled to release fourth- quarter earnings tomorrow before the market opens in France.

Simon Poulter, a spokesman for the Paris-based company, said the company wouldn’t comment on speculation.
