NRG 66-Megawatt Southern California Solar Farm Begins Operations

NRG Energy Inc., the largest independent U.S. electricity generator, began commercial operations at a 66-megawatt solar farm in Los Angeles county.

PG&E Corp. (PCG) will purchase electricity from the Alpine Solar project under a 20-year contract, Princeton, New Jersey-based NRG said today in a statement. First Solar Inc. (FSLR) built the project and will provide maintenance services.
