Leighton’s Thiess Unit Wins $182 Million Sydney Water Contract

Leighton Holdings Ltd. (LEI)’s Thiess unit has been awarded a five-year operations and maintenance contract with Sydney Water, Australia’s largest water utility, that’s worth A$175 million ($182 million).
Thiess said today in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange that the contract “was one of the largest of its kind in Australia’s water industry.” Thiess’s clients also include the Wonthaggi reverse-osmosis desalination plant on the Bass coast near Melbourne.
