Asian Cocoa-Bean Processing Rose 2.8% in Fourth Quarter

Cocoa-bean processing in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia climbed 2.8 percent in the fourth quarter, according to the Cocoa Association of Asia.

Processing in the three nations gained to 155,237 metric tons in the last three months of the year, up from 150,972 in the same period a year earlier, the Singapore-based group said on its website today. The so-called grind was up 3.6 percent to 606,622 tons in 2012, the data showed.

Members of the Cocoa Association of Asia include ADM Cocoa Pte Ltd., Barry Callebaut Services Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd., Olam International Ltd. (OLAM), Petra Foods Ltd. (PETRA) and PT Cargill Indonesia, according to the group’s website.
