Russian Diesel Exports From St. Petersburg Port Drop 57% in 2012

Russian diesel exports from the St. Petersburg terminal fell 57 percent in 2012 as more of the fuel was transported via the Baltic port of Primorsk.

Diesel shipments fell to 1.2 million metric tons last year from 2.8 million tons in 2011, a port official said today by phone from St. Petersburg, asking not be identified because the information is confidential.

Exports of fuel oil rose 13 percent to 8.1 million tons last year from 7.2 million tons a year earlier.

Diesel shipments in December doubled to 150,000 tons from 74,000 tons in the same month a year earlier, according to the official. Fuel oil exports fell to 434,000 tons in the period, from 555,000 tons in December 2011.
