StormHarbour Hires Del Rivero as Adviser at New Madrid Office

StormHarbour Securities LP, the brokerage founded by ex-Citigroup Inc. traders, named Juan del Rivero as senior adviser at a new office in the Spanish capital.

Del Rivero, a former partner and chairman of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) in Spain and Portugal, will join a team including Principal and Managing Director Gonzalo Chocano at the Madrid office, StormHarbour said in an e-mailed statement today.

In Spain, StormHarbour will focus on financing and capital management transactions and helping companies and banks sell assets at a time when the country is struggling to emerge from a five-year economic slump. Lenders and saving banks have been shedding assets to raise capital as they absorb costs from the collapse of the real estate market.

StormHarbour’s previous work in the Iberian region includes acting as joint arranger and lead manager for a 198 million-euro ($261 million) asset-backed securitization of consumer, auto loans and leases for Portuguese lender Banif SA last July.
