American Water Pennsylvania Unit Closes Year With Two Purchases

American Water Works Co. (AWK) closed the year with two acquisitions by its Pennsylvania subsidiary, the biggest publicly traded water company in the U.S. said.

The $1.2 million of purchases in northeast Pennsylvania were for water assets that serve the Fernwood Resort in Monroe County and the All Seasons Water Co. in Pike County, the Voorhees, N.J.-based utility said in a statement. American Water shares have risen 22 percent over the past year.
