U.K. Stocks Rise, Halting a Two-Day Slide; Xstrata Rises

U.K. stocks advanced before the Christmas holiday.
The FTSE 100 gained 11.83 points, or 0.2 percent, to 5,951.82 at 9:34 a.m. in London. The broader FTSE All-Share Index also added 0.2 percent. Ireland’s ISEQ Index slid 0.3 percent.
Gains in the FTSE 100 were led by Xstrata Plc (XTA) and Burberry Group Plc. (BRBY)
