Enel Green Power Starts Building 90 MW Wind Farm in Chile
Enel Green Power SpA (EGPW) began building a 90-megawatt wind farm in Chile’s Antogafasta region, the Rome- based company said today in an e-mailed statement.
The Valle de los Vientos project will cost about $140 million, comprising of 45 of its 2-megawatt wind turbines, Enel Green Power said. It’s projected to generate 200 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year, avoiding 165,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Enel is expanding in Chile, with plans to build 250 megawatts of wind power by 2016 as well as to develop solar farms to add to existing hydroelectric and geothermal energy projects.
