Lithuania Plans Fifth Hydro Unit at Kruonis Power Plant by 2016

Lietuvos Energija AB (LNR1L), Lithuania’s state-controlled electricity company, announced plans to build a fifth 225-megawatt hydro unit at the Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant before power links to Poland and Sweden go live in 2016.

Suppliers and contractors are invited to express interest by Feb. 1 in the project, the total cost of which is estimated at 110 million euros ($146 million), the Vilnius-based company said today in a statement on the Nasdaq OMX Vilnius website.
