Serbia Increases Areas Sown to Wheat, Barley to 10-Year High

Serbian farmers increased areas sown to wheat by 16 percent to 544,541 hectares (1.35 million acres) this planting season, bringing the total area 2.3 percent above the 10-year average, the Belgrade-based Statistics Office said.

Farmers also increased areas under oats by 15 percent to 72,276 hectares and 28 percent sown to barley to 11,232 hectares, the Statistics Office said today in its preliminary report on areas sown this autumn.
