Saracens Beat Munster 19-13 in Rugby’s Heineken Cup; Toulon Rout

Saracens beat two-time champion Munster 19-13 to retain its lead in Pool 1 after the fourth round of games in rugby’s Heineken Cup

The teams scored one try apiece, from David Strettle and Doug Howlett respectively. Owen Farrell kicked 14 points for Saracens, and Ronan O’Gara eight for Munster.

Saracens leads its group by two points from Racing Metro, with Munster a point further back.

Castres beat Glasgow 10-8 today to send the Scottish team to a fourth straight defeat in Pool 4. Ulster leads Castres by three points after an upset 10-9 loss to Northampton yesterday.

Toulon maintained its lead in Pool 6, scoring nine tries in a 62-0 rout of Sale. Montpellier is five points behind in second.

There were also wins this weekend for Racing Metro, Leicester, Biarritz, Harlequins, Ospreys, Clermont Auvergne, Exeter and Montpellier.

Leicester leads Toulouse by a point in Pool 2, Harlequins is almost assured of advancing with a 10-point advantage over Biarritz in Pool 3, and Clermont Auvergne is eight points ahead of Leinster in Pool 5.

Harlequins, Clermont Auvergne and Toulon have won all four games so far.

The six pool-winners and two best-placed runners-up qualify for the quarterfinals.
