Putin Urges Search to Find Killers of Russian Journalist

President Vladimir Putin urged police to find those responsible for the murder of journalist Kazbek Gekkiev, killed yesterday in Nalchik, the capital of Russia’s Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the North Caucasus.

“I am sure our law-enforcement bodies will do everything to reveal and punish criminals,” Putin said today at a meeting with human rights ombudsman Vladimir Lukin in Sochi today.

Gekkiev, 26, was a host at regional TV news program Vesti in the republic. He was shot by two people while on his way from work to his girlfriend’s home, Vesti said today.
