Kobe Bryant Becomes Youngest NBA Player to Reach 30,000 Points

Kobe Bryant became the youngest National Basketball Association player to score 30,000 points as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the New Orleans Hornets 103-87.

Bryant reached 30,001 career points with a jump shot one minute, 16 seconds before halftime at the New Orleans Arena last night. He ended the game with 29 points.

Bryant joins Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul- Jabbar and Michael Jordan in reaching 30,000 career points.

Bryant reached the mark at 34 years, 104 days. Chamberlain was 35 years, 179 days old when he achieved the feat. Malone was next youngest at 36 years, 189 days, followed by Abdul-Jabbar (36 years, 217 days) and Jordan (38 years, 321 days), according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Abdul-Jabbar ended his career with 38,387 points, Malone had 36,928, Jordan scored 32,292 and Chamberlain amassed 31,419.

The Lakers improved to 9-10 with last night’s win, while the Hornets fell to 5-12.
