Newcastle Beats Wigan 3-0 as Ba’s Two Goals Snap Run of Losses

Demba Ba scored twice to push Newcastle to a 3-0 victory over Wigan, ending a run of four straight Premier League defeats for the soccer team.

Ba scored a penalty in the 13th minute after Wigan was reduced to 10 men when defender Maynor Figueroa brought down Papiss Cisse in the box. Ba scored again eight minutes later, and then Gael Bigirimana finished the scoring in the 71st minute.

The win keeps Newcastle in 14th place, but it’s tied on 17 points with Fulham, which has a better goal difference. Wigan in in 15th.
