ESPN Gets Preliminary 12-Year Deal on College Football Playoffs

ESPN reached tentative agreement on a 12-year media rights package for college football’s upcomng championship playoff system, the Walt Disney Co. (DIS) unit said in a news release.
Financial details weren’t disclosed. Sports Business Journal reported that the deal is worth more than $7 billion, citing people in the industry it didn’t identify.
ESPN said in the statement that the deal includes the national championship and semifinal games, plus other, unspecified postseason bowls. It starts after the 2014 regular season and extends through January 2026, the sports cable outlet said.
