U2’s Bono, The Edge, Sting, Peter Gabriel and Yoko Ono paid 1.5 million koruna ($75,500) for a tapestry dedicated to late Czech President Vaclav Havel, CTK news agency reported.
The tapestry, designed by Petr Sis, is to be unveiled Dec. 9 at Prague’s international airport that has been named after Havel, who died last year, CTK said, citing Eva Krejci, the airport’s spokeswoman.
Havel inspired these celebrities with his efforts to promote human rights and freedom, CTK reported, citing comments sent by Bono and The Edge to the airport regarding the tapestry.
