Kajima, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo May Develop Offshore Wind Farms

Kajima Corp. (1812) and the engineering unit of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. (5401) may develop 500 megawatts of offshore wind power capacity in the next five years, the two companies said in a statement yesterday.

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co. and Kajima, a Japanese general contractor, are studying ways to combine their expertise in building offshore structures and wind power stations to develop the offshore generators, according to the statement.
