Duke Topples Kentucky, Michigan State Wins in College Basketball

Ninth-ranked Duke University toppled No. 3 University of Kentucky 75-68 and No. 21 Michigan State University upset the University of Kansas 67-64 in college basketball’s State Farm Champions Classic.

Seth Curry scored 23 points and Mason Plumlee added 18 for the Blue Devils (2-0).

The Wildcats (1-1) were led by Alex Poythress, who had 20 points, and Nerlens Noel and Archie Goodwin, who each contributed 16 points, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Michigan State’s Keith Appling scored 19 points and Gary Harris had 18 points as the Spartans improved to 1-1. Elijah Johnson had 16 points and Ben McLemore had 14 for the No. 7 Jayhawks (1-1).

No. 5 Michigan (3-0) took a 28-point lead into halftime as the Wolverines routed Cleveland State 77-47 at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had 17 points and Nik Stauskas added 15 for Michigan. Anton Grady led the Vikings with 15 points.
