LDK Solar Gets $37 Million to Terminate Wafer-Supply Contract

LDK Solar Co., the second-largest supplier of polysilicon wafers for solar cells, will receive $37 million from a customer in Europe for early termination of a supply contract.

The 10-year wafer contract was signed in 2008, Xinyu, China-based LDK said today in a statement that didn’t identify the customer. GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. (3800) was the largest wafer supplier by capacity last year.
