Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook introduced a smaller, cheaper version of the iPad designed to keep customers from buying low-cost tablets from competitors Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Inc. (AMZN) and Google Inc. (GOOG) Shares of Apple fell on concern the price of iPad mini isn’t low enough to draw users from rivals like Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble Inc.’s Nook.
