Wind Venture Funding Rises in Third Quarter, Mercom Capital Says

Venture capital investment in wind energy more than tripled during the third quarter while the acquisitions fell, according to Mercom Capital Group LLC.

Venture capital companies completed six financing deals worth a total of $57 million in the quarter, up from three deals worth $17 million in the second quarter, the Austin, Texas-based communications company said today in an e-mailed statement.

There were 11 acquisitions in the wind industry valued at $53 million, compared to five deals worth $93 million in the prior quarter, Mercom said.
