Three people were killed and one injured in clashes between Muslims and Christians in Upper Egypt, the Minya Security Directorate, which oversees security for the Minya governorate, said.
Two Christians and one Muslim died after a Muslim family and a Christian family exchanged fire today, the directorate said in an e-mailed statement.
Egypt’s last major sectarian clashes took place in May 2011. At least 12 people died and 186 were injured in fights between Muslims and Copts.
