Nielsen Says 51.4 Million U.S. Viewers Watched Biden-Ryan Debate

An estimated 51.4 million U.S. TV viewers watched last night’s debate between Vice President Joe Biden and his challenger, Representative Paul Ryan.

The audience, measured on 12 networks, represented a drop of 26 percent from the 69.9 million who tuned in for Biden’s debate with Sarah Palin four years ago, Nielsen said on its website. An estimated 67.2 million watched President Barack Obama debate Mitt Romney last week.
