India’s NTPC Seeks 7 Million Tons Imported Coal for Power Plants

NTPC Ltd. (NTPC), India’s largest electricity generator, is seeking 7 million metric tons of imported steam coal for 16 plants across the country for delivery over four months, according to tender documents posted on the utility’s website.

The state-owned company plans to import 16 million tons of coal in the financial year ending March 2013, Chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said on Sept. 13.
