U.K. Water Company Pennon’s Waste Unit Acquires Pulp Friction

Pennon Group Plc (PNN), the U.K.’s third- biggest publicly trading water company, said today that its Viridor unit acquired Pulp Friction Ltd. to expand further in waste management and recycling.

Pennon, which also owns South West Water Ltd., the water and sewer services provider for Devon, Cornwall and parts of Dorset, said Viridor purchased the Kent paper collection and processing business for 9 million pounds ($14.4 million).

United Utilities Group Plc (UU/) is the largest publicly traded water company in Britain, followed by Severn Trent Plc.
