Yandex Starts Application Store for Android, Kommersant Reports
Yandex NV (YNDX), Russia’s largest Internet- search engine, is starting an online store to sell applications for devices powered by Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android operating system, Kommersant reported.
The store will sell 40,000 applications for which Yandex acquired the licenses, and the company will get a share of revenues, the newspaper said citing unidentified people. The branded version of Yandex.Store will be installed on Android- powered devices from the fourth quarter, it said.
Yandex may also present its long-awaited debut Web-browser today to help it compete with Google, Kommersant said.
