Summer corn output in Brazil, the third-largest producer of the grain, may rise 4.3 percent in 2012-13 from the previous season to 37.5 million tons, the consulting firm Celeres said today.

There will be a 7 percent decline in planted area for the crop to 8.2 million hectares, Celeres said in an e-mailed report.

The total corn crop in Brazil could reach a record 76 million tons by the end of 2012-13 season, up 2.5 percent from the 2011-12 season, Celeres said.
