R.A. Dickey Wins 20th Game, First for Mets Since Viola in 1990
R.A. Dickey won his 20th game, the first for a New York Mets’ pitcher in 22 seasons, with a 6-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates today.
Dickey, a right-handed knuckleball specialist, tied his career high with 13 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings at Citi Field in New York and raised his season record to 20-6.
The last Mets pitcher to win 20 games in a season was Frank Viola, who went 20-12 in 1990.
