Bangladesh Ends on 175-6 Against Pakistan in World Twenty20

Bangladesh ended on 175-6 today in the final group game in cricket’s World Twenty20 competition in Sri Lanka, leaving Pakistan with a target of 140 to reach the next round.

Shakib Al Hasan got 84 runs off 54 balls for Bangladesh, which won the toss in the Group D match in Pallekele. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim got 25 and Tamim Iqbal 24.

The match will determine which nation advances to the Super Eight with current group leader New Zealand. Bangladesh needs to win by at least 36 runs to go ahead of Pakistan on net run rate. India, England, Australia, West Indies, South Africa and Sri Lanka have already qualified.

The competition, generally held every two years, is the international championship of Twenty20, the shortest form of the game. It starts with four groups of three teams, followed by a Super Eight phase, semifinals and final.
